The course's Native American name means Great White Deer. Chaska Golf Course encompasses over 200 acres with professionally designed tees, bunkers, fairways and greens. The golf course has the three defining characteristics - woods, wind and water. All of the holes are of different length, which requires the use of every club in the bag. Each set of 9 holes is balanced with two Par 3s, five Par 4s and two Par 5s. The back nine is slightly longer. Every green is of different size, shape and contour, in relation to the length of the approach shot. The Par 5s are easy pars to make but hard birdies because of bunkers requiring the approach to be made right or left. The bunkers are of sufficient size and location to require playing the fairway centers, and are all visible.

This course lacks flow, and is far too expensive for what it is. When I walked the course, I had to keep stopping after each hole to try and find the next tee box, and still managed to skip their signature par 3 because it was hidden behind trees, while the hole following it was the only one visible. The holes are straight forward, and not real difficult, with wide fairways and open greens. I just can't figure out why they charge so much, without any specials at all. I feel like this course could be in the 22-25 dollar range.
